Values-based Education

The Shelton and Southill School Federation are committed to values based education. We believe that helping children to develop the language of values will prepare them for their journey through life supporting them in making positive friendships and providing the means with which to make good choices when faced with the challenges that life brings to us all from time to time.  Values based education therefore underpins everything we do.

We have a two year cycle of values and focus on one value month by month. Each new value is introduced in the monthly values assembly and then all subsequent assemblies during the month link to the value. The monthly newsletter features the value so that parents can be involved in supporting this at home. Once a month the Learning Log homework is linked to the value, this provides another opportunity for discussion at home. Although we focus on one particular value each month all the values are used and spoken about every day in school to help support children through their challenges in learning, difficulties with their friends and also to celebrate their successes and achievements.
